WELCOME

Welcome to IntrepidToo - a journey around the world by road and sea. What started as a road trip from Sydney to Europe in a BMW X5 became the Clipper Round the World yacht race, sailing from Sydney to New York, and more recently a catamaran cruise along the Central American coast.

The road trip marked the completion of the Asian Highway Project, a UN sponsored initiative to provide a common standard road network linking all the countries of Asia with Europe. Along the way it entailed visiting as many UNESCO World Heritage sites as possible.

Due for imminent completion, our task was to find out how far they've got. It was also a quest to find the best creme brulee between Sydney and Sweden and the best margaritas outside Mexico.

The Clipper Round the World Yacht Race is an 11 month long, 40,000nm race for amateur sailors in 12 identical 70' racing yachts, each with a crew of 18 and a professional skipper. We join in Australia for the legs to China, then across the North Pacific to Seattle and via the Panama Canal to New York, a voyage equivalent to the circumference of the globe.

It's also an occasional tale of continuing meanderings around the Middle East, Africa, Asia and anywhere else which takes our fancy.
