Day 68 Thurs 9 November, Kathmandu, Nepal

Afternoon visit to Bodhnath, a very large white stupa surmounted by a gold cube with eyes looking in all directions and a tall spire making it the largest Stupa in Nepal. Originally built in 600AD by Songsten Bob the Builder Gampo, the Tibetan king responsible single handed for most of the monasteries in Tibet, the present structure dates from the C14 and reputedly contains the interred relics from the Buddha.

Delicious sandwiches and organic coffee at a nearby cafe before venturing through villages and alleyways to Pashupatinath Hindu Temple. We mistake to outer buildings for the temple and catch a taxi back to thamel where dinner is at Kilroys, Irish Stew and some very acceptable margaritas.
