Day 111 Wednesday 20 December, Jaipur to Delhi, India

We visit the Amber fort on the way back to Delhi. It's large and imposing with tremendous city walls enclosing the crumbling town. There’s a procession of elephants lumbering up to the fort carrying tourists which add to the scene.

We make good progress to Delhi but get lost in the ring road system using our LP map. Eventually after various diversions we reach the curiously named New Friends Colony well after dark in the middle of the rush hour. We’ve lost the phone no for the hotel the office has booked for us so we cruise around for a while asking various people. What we haven’t been told is that the hotel doesn’t have any name displayed on it (must be exclusive) and is actually a normal house in a suburban street behind a high wall and gate. We eventually find it and it turns out to be fine, very clean and modern but a little strange. However it has free internet which is a great asset. The manager directs us to some nearby restaurants where along with a pub, some nightclubs and coffee shops we find a great Italian place called Ego which does a mean blue cheese pizza.
