Day 113 Friday 22 December, Delhi

Sightseeing today firstly at the Red Fort, another large sandstone complex similar to but less interesting than that in Agra, then to the Jama Masjid or Friday Mosque with its three onion domes and towering minarets. After getting lost in Chandra Chowk bazaar we have lunch at Karim’s, reputed the best mughal restaurant in Delhi which is down a tiny alleyway. It's a bit of an institution but the food is good although the surroundings very authentic (ie basic). On the way back to the hotel we stop at Hamayuans Tomb which turns out to be another World Heritage site. This is very impressive and well worth the visit. It's one of the few places where they are actively restoring, here focusing on the landscaping and the water features which were such an important part of the Mughal architecture. Its a beautiful place at sunset.

Dinner is a return to the pizza restaurant at New Friends Colony
