Day 118 Saturday 13 January 2007 Delhi
A lazy start, blogging and generally messing around on the internet at the Dolphin before checking out at 1pm and heading back up to Connaught Place to get the Rajasthan vouchers. We feel a bit wimpish getting an agent to book accommodation for us but in the light of the difficulties we have had in the past and the fact the hotels will tell you they are full when they have rooms available thru agents, we think this may be more efficient, although we remain very dubious about what we will actually get and whether the hotels will actually honour the vouchers we are given. We shall see.....
Then its southwards to Qutb Minar on the outskirts of the city in a groundhog day for I1, arriving there near sunset. Its a splendid sight, with a massive sandstone and marble tower 73m high built in 1193 to mark the establishment of Islamic empire in India and the earliest mosque in the country, with elaborately carved arches and columns. Then we head out to Vincent and Sophie’s farmhouse where the car has been resting in the company of their 3 Great Danes and Labrador. Sophie has made a delicious dinner, which is accompanied by excellent red wine.
