Day 131 Friday 26 January 2007 Mandawa, Rajasthan, India

We stay an extra day in Mandawa in celebration of Australia day, India national day and to get our laundry done and buy some camel skin shoes. We spend the morning in the internet cafe across the road where the connection is via the owners mobile phone and then walk around the dusty town to see some of the other painted havelis. Whilst its a bit like an open air art gallery most of the other havelis are in an advanced state of disrepair and apart from the branch of the Bikander and Jaisalmer national bank which has frescos showing the wright brothers and stephensons rocket, we conclude that the best art is in the hotel where we are staying. We return and spend the afternoon lounging around reading books.
