Day 133 Sunday 28 January 2007, Chandigarh to Shimla, India

The morning is spend trying to resuscitate a sorry Ipod without much success so we have to make conversation on the drive up to Shimla, which lies at 2200m in the foothills of the Himalayas. Fortunately once we have visited Chandigarh's rather splendid 30 acre rose garden (not a cow in sight – v strange) and decaying concrete high court its a relatively short trip although the road is quite winding. By late afternoon we are checked into the Cecil, a 1920s style hotel now run by the Oberoi group and have a stroll along the mall before it gets too cold. Then its back to the hotel for afternoon tea and dinner.
