Safranabolu Tues 10 April 2007

After breakfast in the sundrenched pool room (it has a large central ornamental pool and fountain but no pool table), we explore the town with narrow cobbled streets in pleasant spring sunshine, assisted by several infusions of Turkish coffee. We pass the C17 mosque, haman (baths), caravansari and shops selling multicoloured Turkish delights.

The afternoon is spend sitting in the garden with the map of Turkey trying to work out our itinerary for the next two weeks. It’s an enormous country with any number of sights to visit, including 8 world heritage ones so its a daunting task which isn’t assisted by glasses of raki. Then its time for blogging and venturing out to find some grilled animal for dinner.
