Day 239-240 Mon 11 –Tues 12 Jun 2007, Florence, Tuscany

Sightseeing in Florence, a blur of renaissance, Romanesque and gothic churches, frescos, paintings, tapestries and museums, including the Duomo, fabulously ornate on the outside with alternating bands of green and white marble, austere on the inside apart from the dome, the Pitti place, the baptistry and too many more to mention.

Shopping in the supermarket, nearly everyone is speaking English, all cheapskate tourists doing self catering but after paying 9 euros ($17) for a gelato its hardly surprising. I return with enough provisions for a family of four for a week and there’s only me and two days.
