Day 247 Tues 19 Jun 2007 Lenzerheide to St Gallen, Switzerland

A very pretty drive to Zurich, down to Chur and along the lakeshore, arriving just in time to meet the 12.20 flight from London. After collecting I2 from Sydney and managing to avoid the trams we drive around Zurich. It's a small but attractive city at the end of the lake, where we stop for lunch at a lakeside restaurant. Switzerland is enjoying an early heatwave, around 32deg so most of the gnomes seem to have taken the day off to go swimming or boating on the lake. We drive eastwards on the north side of the lake towards St Gallen, passing through lush green countryside full of contented cows and haymaking, timber houses and tidy villages. St Gallen has a world heritage cathedral and narrow pedestrian centre to the old town. We stay in a pension overlooking the cathedral square above an Italian restaurant.
