Day 256 Thurs 28 Jun 2007 Prague, Czech Republic

A blustery day spent exploring Prague old town, inspecting the statues on the Charles Bridge, waiting for the astronomical clock in the Old Town Square and sampling a range of coffee houses whilst avoiding rain showers. Its a fascinating city with lots of lanes and squares to get lost in, a mix of modern and traditional shops and an inexhaustible array of churches, palaces, towers and museums, all competing intensely with their classical music concerts. We visit the castle late in the afternoon, wandering though a maze of courtyards in what the guide book describes as a battle ship beached on the hill above the city. Its dominated by St Vitus Cathedral with its gothic spires and flying buttresses. With another torrential shower threatening we descend to Nerudova St where the apartment is located, just in time to find a traditional Czech restaurant for dinner.
